The area

Canary Wharf is also known as one of the main financial district of London (after The City). It’s famous for its skyscrapers, banks and international offices. It’s not often seen as a residential area however in the past years many new developments have been built around the docklands area, offering employees who work in Canary Wharf an amazing opportunity to live not too far from work and have a really easy commute. Most residents in Canary Wharf are young and successful professionals who don’t have children and are mainly focus on their career. Canary Wharf has now become a sleek area with new buildings, shopping centres, many restaurants and bars, green space and amazing transport links to anywhere in London.

Transport

Canary Wharf is located in the Isle of Dogs, the Borough of Tower Hamlets. With a postcode of E14 it is very well connected due to the fact that it is both on the Jubilee line and the DLR. You will be in Bank or Westminster in only 10 minutes. It’s also very convenient for traveling abroad as London City Airport is only 20 minutes away by DLR.

Renting in Canary Wharf

Prices in Canary Wharf are slightly higher than its neighbours Greenwich, Lewisham, Mudchute, East India etc – which can all be great alternatives only a few miles away. The average rental price for a two beds apartment in Canary Wharf is between £1800 and £2500 per month

Where to go

Billingsgate Fish Market – For Fresh Food
If you are a seafood and fish lover this one is for you. Billingsgate Market is the largest fish market in the UK. You will find the best quality for wholesale prices but you need to wake up early! The market is open from Monday to Saturday as early as 4:00 am and closes at 8:30 am.

The O2 – For Entertainment
Situated only one stop away from Canary Wharf on the Jubilee line, the O2 is a mega entertainment centre with concert venues, cinema, restaurants and bars. It has over 30 restaurants so there you will be sure to find something for everyone’s taste. If you fancy it you can also climb the O2 and get a beautiful view from the top!

Bokan – For the View

Talking about good views, Canary Wharf is not short on those. With all its skyscrapers it leaves space to many beautiful rooftop terraces and bars with amazing views over the city. From up there you’ll feel like you’re in New York, not London! Bokan is one of the many beautiful locations with stunning views. Have a look for yourself! Grab a drink after a long day at work and enjoy a magical sunset from up high.

Boisdale – For the Music
Boisdale is a lovely Jazz bar in the heart of Canary Wharf, offering live music and very good food. It is a bit on the pricier side but you can enjoy a glass of wine and listen to beautiful live music in a stunning setting. A very good experience.

Giant Robot – For a Good Time

Giant Robot is a very alternative space for the Canary Wharf scene. Unlike the other fancy places, this one is very relaxed. Giant Robot looks like a street food market but indoors with many little food stands and different bars. Of course the great view is not missing and there are some outdoor tables too. With its vibrant and welcoming decor, the Giant Robot could soon become your new favourite spot in East London!
