Area Guide to Kensington

Home to some of the most loved museums, you’ve no doubt heard of Kensington. It’s one of the most visited areas of London for its culture – with V&A, Natural History and the Science Museum right on the doorstep, and even walking down the streets, you’ll feel a strong sense of beautiful architecture. The houses are equally gorgeous, with many associating the streets of South Kensington to Paris, for its charm and elegance. It’s fair to say this area is affluent, with wonderful high-end shops, outstanding restaurants and equally stylish hotels to boost. There’s no doubt that Kensington is an elegant part of London, and why it’s one of the most desirable and visited areas.

Coffee

If you can pry yourself away from the beautiful streets, you’ll find an array of coffee shops. Bluebelles of Portobello serves incredibly Caravan coffee alongside all day brunch and lunch (double win). It’s intimate but has a vibrant and buzzing atmosphere, and their sourdough is worth shouting about. Trust us.
Also try Over Under Coffee, as they’re down to earth, dynamic and delicious.

Brunch

A great place to start your morning, is by having brunch at Bumpkin. Bumpkin use the best British seasonal produce, so the only decision you have to make is which eggs you want for breakfast. Not only are the brunch options good, but the taste is even better, and all enjoyed in a comfortable setting with a touch of rustic simplicity. We also hear their Bloody Marys are famous too.
Also try Ffiona’s, who claim to serve up the best brunch in London…

Dinner

Sometimes you just want a little bit of comfort, and Dirty Bones offers just that. NYC inspired comfort food, and tasty cocktails with live music, in a neon-lit diner – we sure like Dirty Bones’ thinking. We’re also huge fans of the entrance, being greeted by a pinball machine at the bar which is definitely a quirky hang-out in it’s own right. Oh and cocktail hour? You don’t need to ask us twice…
Also try Chicama, as the flavours are bold and delicious.

Pub

Stunning interiors, and a focus on brunch and Sunday roasts, The Duke of Clarence is where you’ll want to be. The atmosphere is the perfect and relaxed place to catch up with friends, with a signature cocktail (or two), and their delicious food, and we’d 100% recommend making your Sunday afternoon all about The Duke of Clarence, purely for the incredible roasts. Basically, you’ll know where to find us…
Also try The Churchill Arms for a proper real ale boozer.

Drinks

They love wine. We love them (and their wine). It’s as simple as that. Kensington Wine Rooms is a stylish bar, with banquette seating for delicious wine by the glass, and Modern European bites. They design their menu to compliment the wines – and they sure do that well. They’ve also acquired the reputation as one of London’s best wine bars, and we sure agree with that.
Also try Janet’s Bar for a truly down-to-earth vibe.

Walk

With it being one of the most visited areas of London, Kensington isn’t short of culture. Enjoy an afternoon at either the Natural History Museum, Science Museum or strolling around the V&A. Or if the weather is on your side, take a trip to Kensington Gardens, where it offers a mix of old and new park pastimes and green space. Whatever you decide to do, you’ll realise you’ve been walking for hours around Kensington…
