Flatmate Stories: Albertine & Freya

What once was a quiet neighbourhood, and has now turned into a hip crowd full of foodies and those seeking some culture, live Albertine and Freya, in their cosy and homely space in Bermondsey. By day Albertine is the Commissioning Editor at Blogosphere Magazine and Freya a Music Writer (a pretty talented pair right?), and by night you’ll find them either soaking up the London life, blogging all things fashion, or just enjoying some much needed down-time. It’s fair to say, these girls don’t stop.

And having lived together for two years and two months, we couldn’t wait to grab a quick cuppa and find out what it’s really like living with each other.

What is the best thing about having a flatmate?

It’s great having someone likeminded to live with. We both have very similar aesthetics so we’ve been able to decorate our shared and personal space in a way that we both love. It’s also nice having someone to share a cosy night in with when we both fancy a takeaway and Netflix instead of an evening out!

What do you love most about your home?

It really feels like home. Our place was a lucky find, and we pounced on it as soon as we found it! Adding personal touches to the space (for example, we’ve filled the bookshelves with our current favourite reads) has really helped to add character to the space.

Where’s your favourite place to go in Bermondsey?

Bermondsey Street is full of independent shops and restaurants, so we both love taking a trip there. One of our favourite local places to eat is Village East, they do a brilliant brunch!

What’s the most annoying thing a flatmate can do?

Not tidy up after themselves. We’ve both lived with people who have been really messy before, and it can really ruin the atmosphere of your living space. Luckily, we both like to keep things tidy so this hasn’t been an issue for us (yet)!

How do you take time out for yourself?

Personally, I like to listen to podcasts, so I’ll often run myself a bath and pop one on when I’m feeling stressed out. If I’m not in the mood for that, there’s nothing pizza and a glass of white wine can’t fix!

And, a quick fire round…

Early riser or night owl? Early riser
House party or dinner date? Dinner date
Coffee in or coffee out? Coffee out
Cooking or takeaway? Takeaway
Music or TV? TV
Laundry or dishes? Laundry
Bath or shower? Bath
Online shopping or in person? Online

And with that, we leave Albertine and Freya to their beautiful home, in an area we love. You can see more of their home by following along here: @albertinesarah @freydefleur. Think you’d love the lifestyle in their area? We’ve got plenty more flatmates and rooms to rent in Bermondsey right here.
