Meet The Team: Katy

It’s all well and good knowing a brand as a brand, but do you know who you’re even talking to behind the screen? Well, here at ideal flatmate, we’ve got a pretty cool bunch of folk, if we do say so ourselves. So much so, that we think they need a little bit of raving about – you know, a whole blog post dedicated to them.

We slipped into their emails (we know DMs sound much better, but we’re not great fibbers) and asked some questions for you to know a little more about them.

Just don’t pick a favourite OK?

Meet The Team: Katy

If you’re wondering who writes all things London on Flatmate HQ, it’s Katy. Katy is our Content Manager and is forever tap tap tapping away at her laptop, finding out the best places to buy plants in the city, where to take your first date to wow them and so on. You’ll also find Katy talking about renting life, her personal favourite, interior style and interviewing all the incredibly talented folk for My Community. She might not know her geography, but she’ll sure be able to tell you where to eat in London.

Introduce yourself in a sentence

I eat far too much pasta and cheese, own many house plants,  have a really handsome (but slightly arrogant) cat, and spend a lot of time with friends and family, because I get pretty bad FOMO.

Tell us about your background

I’m a small town girl for sure, but after four years in the French Alps as a chalet girl, I realised that home is wherever you want it to be. It was probably the best thing I did, not only learning to snowboard and live in another country, but also getting to meet so many incredible people along the way. That’s why I love travelling now, and actually keep it all documented on a blog that I started when I was 19!  I’m also a huge fan of music, having grown up with my parents love for Northern Soul, and love nothing more than those rare Sunday mornings at home, listening to some new stuff on Spotify.

When you’re not at ideal flatmate, what’s your favourite thing to do?

Visiting new places, and spending time with my friends. If you ask my partner what I do in my spare time, he’ll tell you I just buy plants for our home…

Which is your favourite area in London?

Angel. There just seems to be a lot going on, plus I love the whole food and drink scene.

Where do you enjoy eating and drinking in the city?

There are so many amazing places but my local, The Lord Stanley in Camden, does the best stone baked pizzas. And they have a pub cat so that’s my winner!

If you could live anywhere else besides London, where would it be?

It’s between Edinburgh, anywhere in Italy or Miami!
