The Ultimate Guide To November In London

Normally we’re patiently waiting for November to approach, but after a pretty delightful October (who knew we’d enjoy alfresco dining in the autumnal sunshine so much?) you’d think it might feel a little dull as the clocks have gone back, and those darker evenings draw in. And that chillier weather has finally showed up.

But, November in London is full of that much stuff to do, that we just don’t even know where to begin.

Oh actually, we do. And it begins with C…

Alexandra Palace Fireworks Festival

(2 – 3 November)

The Ultimate Guide To November In London

Remember, remember the 5th of November. And what a wonderful time we’ll have. There are so many amazing places to view the fireworks, but our favourite definitely has to be Alexandra Palace. Overlooking North London, not only are you admiring the beautiful palace but you’ll certainly see more fireworks than you paid for. There’s food and drink stalls, ice skating and even a German Bier Festival inside. So wrap up warm, order a mulled wine and get ready for an evening of OOHS and AAHS.

The Great British Fry Up

(4 November)

The Ultimate Guide To November In London

A celebration of the favourite fried breakfast we hear you ask? Damn right! Hosted by Masterchef runner up Steve Kielty and his pals David Rowland and Ben Smith, the event will be held at MEATLiquor Kings Cross – and it’s set to be a banger. Think produce from some of the UK’s best independent suppliers (including a vegetarian option because they don’t want anyone to miss out!), and washed down with a pint. After all, that’s definitely the best way to enjoy breakfast.

Christmas Lights Turn On

(From 6 November)

The Ultimate Guide To November In London

Whilst we think that it gets earlier every year, there’s nothing quite like the Christmas spirit than those twinkling lights above us as we walk along the path. And even though it’s always a busy (like really busy) scene, we love the festive lights switch on. Because it also means we can 100% add our Christmas songs to our playlists now. Here’s when the key lights are being turned on:
6 November – Oxford Street
8 November – Carnaby Street
13 November – Covent Garden
15 November – Regent Street & Seven Dials
21 November – Royal Exchange

Winter at Southbank Centre

(9 November – 6 January)

The Ultimate Guide To November In London

One of our favourite spots, is transforming this winter for all things festive. There’s no better way to celebrate (and by celebrate we mean – eat, drink and get very merry), than under the twinkling lights alongside the River Thames. Serving up some of the best global street foods, wash it all down with cocktails and craft beers and enjoy some of the best Christmas shows about. Oh we love the Southbank Centre.

Remembrance Sunday

(11 November)

The Ultimate Guide To November In London

A day to remember those who gave their lives during the wars, we remember them with a special silence in Trafalgar Square on the 11th hour. There’ll be various concerts and church services around the city, with the Queen attending the service and parade in Whitehall. We’ll never forget those who fell.

Skate at Somerset House

(14 November – 10 January)

The Ultimate Guide To November In London
Proving to be a stunning setting for an ice rink, Skate at Somerset House is back again this winter. It’s a truly festive thing to do, whether it’s leading up to Christmas or after, and even if your skating is a little off, you’ll still have the most wonderful time skating around the rink. There’s also Fortnum’s Lodge, offering delicious mulled wine, champagne and dining options, so basically, it’s a must (as we’re sure you already know, because you went last year…). Get your skates on!

Taste of London: The Festive Edition

(15 – 18 November)

The Ultimate Guide To November In London

We love Taste of London whatever the season, but The Festive Edition is the ultimate way to kick off the Christmas season in style. Transforming East London’s Tobacco Dock into a foodie haven, there’ll be plenty of the tastiest foods, festive tipples, masterclasses and shopping to get you all set for the Christmas season. And with it being a highlight for a food-lover, it’s one to add to your calendar (and book your ticket!).

Winter Wonderland

(22 November – 6 January)

The Ultimate Guide To November In London

Busy it is, but fun you’ll get. Hyde Park’s massive tribute to all things Christmas and winter is returning for another year. There’s so much to do, from a huge ice rink to fairground rides and Santa’s grotto. Explore Christmas Markets, drink in themed bars and have a laugh in Winter Wonderlands Comedy Club. Basically, you’ll never want to leave. But that’s cool, because it’s free so you can just head back the next day. And the next…

Basically, if you’re looking for us this month, we’ll be getting merry at one of the Christmas festivals.
